Extension Housing: Installation

- Install the extension housing.
- Install the transmission mount.
- Position the exhaust bracket.
- Install the bolts.
- Position the crossmember and install the six bolts and nuts.
- Remove High-Lift Transmission Jack.
- Install the nuts.
- Install the transfer case, if equipped. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE - AUTOMATIC SHIFT .
- Install the rear driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
- Install the drain plug.
- Refill the transmission with the specified amount of fluid.
- Use MERCON® Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON®.
- Lower the vehicle.
NOTE:
To maintain initial driveshaft balance, align the index marks on the driveshaft and the rear axle pinion flange made during removal.
