Removal & Installation: Compressor: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove manifold bolt, and move manifold aside. See Fig 1. Discard manifold "O" ring. Loosen compressor drive belt pulley tensioner bolt and loosen compressor drive belt idler pulley adjustment bolt. See Fig 2. Remove drive belt, and disconnect compressor clutch connector. See Fig 3.
  2. Remove compressor bolts and compressor. Discard manifold "O" rings. Rotate compressor shaft 6-8 revolutions while collecting oil in a clean measuring device.
