Section 55 (Starting System - F150 Pickups): Description

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

The starter motor is a permanent magnet, gear reduction, 12-volt DC motor, equipped with an integral solenoid. Starting system consists of a starter motor, solenoid, battery, ignition switch, Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor (A/T), Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch (M/T), starter relay, and interconnecting cables and wires.
