- I1 CHECK THE ABS PUMP MOTOR
- Key in ON position.
- Is the ABS pump motor running all the time?
- YES : INSTALL a new ABS module and hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE and HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- NO : Go to I2.
- I2 CHECK FOR ABS MODULE DTCs
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Clear all ABS module DTCs.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Self-test - ABS Module
- Retrieve and record the ABS module DTCs.
- Does DTC C1095 or C1096 return?
- YES
:
If DTC C1095 is retrieved, go to I4.
If DTC C1096 is retrieved, INSTALL a new ABS module and hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . Clear the DTC's. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
If DTC C1096 returns, INSTALL a new HCU. REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
- NO : Go to I3.
- I3 CARRY OUT AN ABS EVENT
- Clear the DTCs, road test the vehicle at speeds greater than 32 km/h (20 mph) and carry out an ABS event.
- Retrieve the ABS module DTCs.
- Did DTCs C1095 and C1096 return?
- Yes
:
If DTC C1096 is retrieved, go to I6.
It DTC C1095 is retrieved, INSTALL a new hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . Clear the DTC's. CARRY OUT the self-test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time.
- I4 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE ABS MODULE
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect: ABS Module C135.
- Measure the voltage between the ABS module C135 pin 9, circuit 532 (OG/YE), harness side and ground; and between the ABS module C135 pin 25, circuit 532 (OG/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to I5.
- NO : VERIFY BJB fuse 11 (60A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 532 (OG/YE). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- I5 CHECK THE ABS MODULE GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the ABS module C135 pin 8, circuit 530 (LG/YE), harness side and ground; and between the ABS module C135 pin 24, circuit 530 (LG/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . Clear the DTC's. CARRY OUT the self-test.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- H7 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Check ABS module C155 for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect: ABS Module C155
- Make sure the connector is fully seated and locked, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES
: INSTALL a new ABS module and hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE . Using the scan tool, CARRY OUT the IVD (ESC) initialization sequence. CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
It DTC C1095 or C1096 returns, INSTALL a new hydraulic control unit (HCU). REFER to HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) . Clear the DTC's. CARRY OUT the self-test.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector or a malfunctioning charging system. CLEAR the DTCs. CARRY OUT the self-test with the brake pedal not applied.
- Check ABS module C155 for:
