Coil Spring & Strut Assembly: Removal
- Hold strut shaft with 8-mm Allen wrench, and loosen top retaining nut 5 turns. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Remove brake hose and anti-lock brake sensor wiring (if equipped) from strut bracket.
- Remove stabilizer bar link from lower end of strut. Remove outer tie-rod end nut. Using Ball Joint Separator (TOOL-3290-D), remove tie-rod end. Remove and suspend front brake caliper and anchor plate assembly. Remove brake rotor.
- Remove strut assembly-to-steering knuckle pinch bolt. Remove control arm-to-steering knuckle pinch bolt. Separate ball joint from steering knuckle. DO NOT damage ball joint seal. Remove steering knuckle.
- Ensure not to bend inner axle shaft boot more than 18 degrees, and outer axle shaft boot more than 45 degrees. Hold strut shaft with 8-mm Allen wrench, and remove top strut retaining nut. Remove strut assembly from vehicle.
