Instrument Panel: Removal

CAUTION:
To avoid damage to the steering column, be sure to lock the steering column before carrying out this procedure.
- Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
- Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Console - Floor .
- Remove the engine cover.
- Release the engine cover latches and remove the engine cover.
- Remove the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
- Remove the upper center instrument panel access panel.
- Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.
- Remove the LH upper access panel.
- Remove the instrument panel cowl top nut.
- Remove the RH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the RH instrument panel dash brace.
- Remove the 4 dash brace bolts.
- Remove the RH instrument panel dash brace.
- Remove the LH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 pushpin retainers.
- Remove the LH instrument panel dash brace.
- Remove the data link connector bolt.
- Disconnect the data link connector.
- Remove the 6 LH instrument panel dash brace bolts.
- Remove the brace.
- Remove the steering column pinch bolt.
- Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
- Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable.
- Disconnect the stoplamp switch electrical connector.
- From under the hood, position the coolant reservoir aside.
- Remove the bolts.
- Position the coolant reservoir aside.
- From inside the engine compartment, remove the main wiring assembly lower bulkhead connector.
- Loosen the bulkhead connector bolt.
- Disconnect the bulkhead connector clips.
- Remove the bulkhead connector.
- Remove the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
- Disconnect the RH instrument panel cowl side wiring electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the antenna cable from the radio and release the cable locators from the instrument panel.
- Remove the 3 RH instrument panel bolts.
- Remove the 3 LH instrument panel bolts.
- Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle through the passenger side door.
NOTE:
Steering column removed for clarity.

Removing the instrument panel from the vehicle requires an assistant.
