Description & Operation: Notes
The first step in diagnosing any driveability problem is verifying the customer's complaint with a test drive under the conditions the problem reportedly occurred. Before entering self-diagnostics, perform a careful and complete visual inspection. Most transaxle control problems result from mechanical breakdowns or poor electrical connections.
Electronic solenoids accomplish the following functions: 3 on/off solenoids (SS1, SS2 and SS3) for shifting, one Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) solenoid for line pressure control, and one on/off solenoid for Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) control.
NOTE:
In addition to transaxle fault codes, engine-related fault codes may be output during QUICK TEST
procedure under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. These fault codes pertain to engine performance and must be repaired first as engine performance will greatly affect transaxle operation. For information and testing procedures of engine-related fault codes and components, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
