Parking Brake Warning Chime
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2006 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The parking brake warning chime warns that the parking brake is engaged when the vehicle is in motion. The parking brake warning chime sounds if the ignition lock cylinder is in ON position, the parking brake is engaged, and the vehicle speed is greater than 5 km/h (3 mph).
The parking brake warning chime stops sounding if the parking brake is released, the ignition lock cylinder is not in the ON position, if the vehicle speed is less than 5 km/h (3 mph), or after 90 seconds from the time the chime is activated.
The parking brake warning chime inputs are:
- Ignition switch RUN/START position.
- Parking brake switch data communicated by the SJB to the instrument cluster through the CAN.
- Vehicle speed data communicated by the PCM to the instrument cluster through the CAN.
