Test A: No Communication With RCM

- Check circuit for open
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access RCM and disconnect harness connector C424. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE (RCM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and harness side of RCM connector C424, terminal No. 8 (Green/Orange wire, circuit No. 15-JA10). See Fig 1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Green/Orange wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Test air bag system for normal operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . - Check circuit for open
Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and RCM case. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to RCM DOES NOT RESPOND . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in RCM case ground. If open ground circuit is internal RCM malfunction, replace RCM. Activate air bag system. Test air bag system for normal operation.
