Ignition Switch

- To inspect ignition switch for mechanical operation, rotate ignition switch through all positions. If lock cylinder does not bind, and returns from START to RUN position without assistance go to next step. If binding or ignition switch does not return from START to RUN positions, lock cylinder and ignition switch should either be disassembled and inspected for damage, or ignition switch should be replaced.
- To test electrical function of ignition switch, disconnect ignition switch connector C233. Check continuity between specified switch terminals using a self-powered test light or ohmmeter. See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. See Fig 1 . If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
