Diagnostic Tests: Notes
NOTE:
Diagnostic tests are diagnostic formats used to test and service EEC-V system. For DTCs related to engine performance concerns, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. QUICK TEST allows technician to identify problems and retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)
under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Diagnostic tests check transmission circuits, sensors, solenoids and actuators.
NOTE:
Perform all voltage tests with a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure.
Procedures in diagnostic tests are written for use with following Ford Motor Co. test equipment:
- Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) Scan Tool (418-F224) or New Generation Star (NGS) tester (007-00500) or equivalent.
- 104-Pin Breakout Box (014-00950).
Terminal pin references are based on this equipment and appropriate overlays. For all references to "test pins" or "jacks", refer to test equipment. When aftermarket test equipment is used, always follow test equipment manufacturer's instructions.
