Test P: Keyless Entry Keypad Illumination Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect keyless entry keypad harness connector. Measure voltage between ground and keyless entry keypad harness connector Violet/White wire terminal. If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, repair open in Violet/White wire between keyless entry keypad and central junction box.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located beneath instrument panel, right of steering column. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, trigger Front Electronic Module (FEM) active command KEYPAD BACKLIGHTING ON, while measure resistance between ground and keyless entry keypad harness connector Orange/White wire terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace keyless entry keypad.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM harness connector C346 (20-pin). See Figure . Measure resistance of Orange/White wire between FEM harness connector C346 terminal No. 12 and keyless entry keypad. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Orange/White wire between keyless entry keypad and FEM.
- Disconnect all FEM harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all FEM harness connectors. Operate system to verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace FEM. Clear DTCs and repeat FEM self-test. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat FEM self-test.
