Test D: Rear Tilt Inoperative

CAUTION: On models equipped with side air bags, a Side Air Bag Simulator (418-133) must be connected to side air bag and seat belt pretensioner floor connectors before diagnosing or repairing power seats.
  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. On models equipped with side air bags, deactivate system before diagnosing. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Ensure to disconnect any auxiliary power supplies. Disconnect suspect rear height motor 2-pin harness connector, located under appropriate seat on motor assembly. Measure resistance between ground and rear height motor harness connector Red/Light Green wire terminal. Measure resistance between ground and rear height motor harness connector Yellow/Light Green wire terminal. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more for driver's seat, go to next step. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more for passenger's seat, go to step  3 . If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to step  4 .
  2. Disconnect driver's seat control switch 8-pin harness connector, located on left side of driver's seat. Measure resistance of Red/Light Green wire between driver's seat rear height motor harness connector terminal and driver's seat control switch harness connector terminal "C". See Figure . Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Green wire between driver's seat rear height motor harness connector terminal and driver's seat control switch harness connector terminal "B". If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace driver's seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red/Light Green wire or Yellow/Light Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Disconnect passenger's seat control switch 8-pin harness connector, located under passenger's seat. Measure resistance of Red/Light Green wire between passenger's seat rear height motor harness connector terminal and passenger's seat control switch harness connector terminal "A". See Figure . Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Green wire between passenger's seat rear height motor harness connector terminal and passenger's seat control switch harness connector terminal "D". If both resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace passenger's seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red/Light Green wire or Yellow/Light Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and suspect rear height motor harness connector Red/Light Green wire terminal. Actuate suspect seat control switch to REAR UP position. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Measure voltage between ground and suspect rear height motor harness connector Yellow/Light Green wire terminal. Actuate suspect seat control switch to REAR DOWN position. If voltage is 10 volts or more, replace seat track/motor assembly. See SEAT TRACK/MOTOR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace seat control switch. See SEAT CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
