Test X: Power Sliding Door Inoperative From Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Ford Windstar and 1999 Ford Windstar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Rear Electronic Module (REM) self-test. If DTC B2557 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2558 is retrieved, go to step  4. If DTCs B2557 and B2558 are not retrieved, go to step  6.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Left Power Sliding Door Module (LPSDM) 12-pin harness connector C355. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 4 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is 10 volts or less, replace LPSDM.
  3. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 4 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. If reading is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Gray/Red wire. If reading is 10 volts or less, replace REM.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Right Power Sliding Door Module (RPSDM) 12-pin harness connector C352. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 4 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. If reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If reading is 10 volts or less, replace RPSDM.
  5. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 4 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. If reading is more than 10 volts, repair short to voltage in Tan/Red wire. If reading is 10 volts or less, replace REM.
  6. Using NGS tester, perform Left Power Sliding Door Module (LPSDM) and Right Power Sliding Door Module (RPSDM) self-tests. If DTC B2362 is retrieved from LPSDM, go to next step. If DTC B2362 is retrieved from RPSDM, go to step  9. If DTC B2362 is not retrieved from either LPSDM or RPSDM, go to step  11.
  7. Disconnect LPSDM 12-pin harness connector C355. Measure resistance between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 4 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, clear LPSDM DTCs and repeat LPSDM self-test. If DTC B2362 is retrieved, replace LPSDM.
  8. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Measure resistance between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 4 (Gray/Yellow wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace REM. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Gray/Yellow wire.
  9. Disconnect RPSDM 12-pin harness connector C352. Measure resistance between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 4 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, clear RPSDM DTCs and repeat RPSDM self-test. If DTC B2362 is retrieved, replace RPSDM.
  10. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Measure resistance between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 4 (Tan/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace REM. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire.
  11. Press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote keyless entry transmitter. If left power sliding door locked and unlocked, go to next step. If right power sliding door locked and unlocked, go to step  13. If left or right power sliding door did not lock and unlock, repair remote keyless entry system. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS - WINDSTAR article.
  12. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Measure resistance of Gray/Yellow wire between LPSDM harness connector C355 terminal No. 4 and REM harness connector C341 terminal No. 10. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace REM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Gray/Yellow wire.
  13. Disconnect REM 22-pin harness connector C341. Measure resistance of Tan/Red wire between RPSDM harness connector C352 terminal No. 4 and REM harness connector C341 terminal No. 11. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace REM. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Red wire.
