Test C: Charge Warning Indicator Flickers Or Is Intermittent
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Inspect generator connections, battery junction box connections and battery cable connections for looseness, damage or corrosion. If all connections are okay, go to next step. If faulty connection is found, repair as necessary. Check system operation.
- Ensure voltage regulator "A" and "F" terminal screws are tight. See Figure
. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
. If screws are tight, go to next step. If screws are not tight, tighten as necessary. Check system operation.
- Disconnect voltage regulator connector. Remove voltage regulator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
. Measure resistance between ground and each generator slip ring. See Fig 1
. If resistance is more than 200 ohms between ground and both slip rings, install new voltage regulator. If resistance between ground and one or both slip rings is 200 ohms or less, clean slip rings and retest. If resistance is still 200 ohms or less, replace generator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
. Check system operation.
