Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the wheel and tire.
  2. CAUTION: Care must be taken during the removal of the plug to prevent damage. If the plug is damaged, a new sensor may need to be installed even though the sensor is functional in all other aspects.

  3. Remove the grommet from the body.
    • When removing the body plug, rotate the plug into a position which allows the use of a small screwdriver to release the tabs on the underside of the body plug. These 2 tabs are located at right angles to the sensor wire.
  4. Disconnect the sensor wiring.

  5. Detach the bolt.

  6. Remove the bolts.

  7. NOTE: Clean off any dirt that may have collected around the sensor before removal.

  8. Remove the bolt and the sensor.
  9. CAUTION: If a new rear wheel knuckle has previously been installed, it will be necessary to retain the wheel speed sensor wiring harness using a nylon tie-strap or damage to the wiring harness can occur.

  10. If necessary, using a nylon tie-strap, attach the wheel speed sensor wiring harness retainer bracket to the parking brake cable as shown.
  11. NOTE: Thoroughly clean the sensor mounting surface.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
