Test B: Driver's Power Window Inoperative (4-Door)
- Remove driver's power window control switch. See POWER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Test drivers power window control switch. See DRIVER'S POWER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH (4-DOOR) under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace switch and test system operation.
- Connect driver's power window control switch. Turn ignition ON. Observe the LEDs on the control switch. If LEDs illuminate, go to next step. If LEDs do not illuminate, go to step 8.
- Attempt to operate passenger side front window from driver's control switch. If passenger window operates correctly from driver's switch, go to next step. If passenger window does not operate correctly from driver's switch, repair open or high resistance in Green/Blue wire between Central Junction Box and driver's power window control switch and test system operation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Push driver's power window control switch DOWN to first detent. Listen and feel for a click from the one-touch down relay. If relay clicks while pushing on control switch, go to next step. If relay does not click while pushing on control switch, go to step 10.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect driver's power window motor connector. Turn ignition ON. Push drivers power window control switch DOWN to first detent. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground while pushing DOWN on control switch. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, go to step 13.
- Push UP on driver's power window control switch. Measure voltage between terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire) and ground while pushing UP on control switch. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or high resistance in Yellow wire and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Measure resistance between C782 terminal No. 2 (White wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace drivers power window motor and test system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down relay and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect drivers power window control switch connector C487. Turn ignition ON. Measure voltage between C487 terminal No. 14 (Green/Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or high resistance in Green/Yellow wire and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect driver power window control switch C486. Measure resistance between C486 terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, wiring is okay, verify customers concern. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Black wire and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect one-touch down relay connector C738. Turn ignition ON. Push DOWN on drivers window control switch to the first detent. Measure the voltage between C738 terminal No. 3 (Green/Blue wire) and ground. See Figure. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open or high resistance in Green/Blue wire and test system operation.
- Measure resistance between C738 terminal No. 2 (Green/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace one touch down relay and test system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Green/Black wire and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Measure resistance between the one-touch down relay connector C738 terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down relay and test system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in Black wire and test system operation.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect one-touch down relay connector C738 and driver power window control switch C782. Measure resistance between C782 terminal No. 2 (White wire) and C738 terminal No. 5 (White wire). See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace one-touch down relay and test system operation. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in White wire and test system operation.
NOTE:
Green/Yellow wire changes color to Green/Black at terminal No. 2 of One-Touch Down relay.
NOTE:
Green/Black wire changes color to Green/Blue wire at S201.
