Stabilizer Bar: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Center steering wheel, remove key and lock in position. Disconnect steering column shaft from pinion extension. See Fig 1 . Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels.
  2. Remove tie-rod end retaining nuts. Remove tie rod end nuts. Pull tie rod using Tie Rod End Remover (211-001). See Fig 2 . Detach stabilizer bar connecting links. See Fig 3 . Remove lower control arm ball joints from knuckles. See Fig 4 .
    3. CAUTION: The power steering lines are attached to the steering gear.
  3. Remove support insulator-to-transaxle center bolt. See Fig 5 . Using transmission jack, support crossmember. Remove crossmember bolts, and lower crossmember. See Fig 6 . Remove stabilizer bar clamps and fasteners, and remove stabilizer bar.
