Section 2 (Engine - 4.6): Installation: Engine: Installation

  1. Install the engine in the vehicle and remove the floor crane and the special tool.

  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Install the transmission wiring harness.
    1. Install the wiring harness and attach the oxygen sensor and wiring harness electrical connectors to the bracket.
    2. Connect the transmission wiring harness electrical connectors.

  4. Install the engine mount nuts.

  5. Remove the bolts for the RH lifting bracket.

  6. Install the degas bottle support bracket.

  7. Using the special tool, install a new seal on the power steering pressure hose fitting.

  8. Connect the high pressure tube to the power steering pump.

  9. Install the anti-rotational clip and the bolt.

  10. Connect the lower radiator hose.

  11. Connect the lower radiator hose to the oil filter adapter.

  12. Install the body ground and bolt.

  13. Install the engine ground cable and the nut.

  14. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.

  15. Position the wiring harness and install the nuts.

  16. Position the wiring harness and, if equipped, the transmission cooler tubes. Install the nut.

  17. Install the transmission. Refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE -T5OD (T5OD), or MANUAL TRANSAXLE - TR3650 (TR3650) or TRANSMISSION (A/T). for automatic transmissions.
  18. Remove the LH lifting bracket.

  19. Remove the RH lifting bracket.

  20. Connect the electrical connectors.

  21. Install the wiring support bracket and the nuts.

  22. Install the battery leads.

  23. Position the access cover.

  24. Connect the power steering hose.

  25. NOTE: The O-ring seal must be inspected and cleaned before installation. Refer to RECOVERY/EVACUATION & RECHARGING .
  26. Install the A/C muffler.
    1. Connect the A/C tube and position the A/C muffler.
    2. Install the bracket nut.

  27. Connect the A/C tube.

  28. Install and connect the A/C suction tube.

  29. Connect the A/C suction tube to the accumulator.

  30. Connect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) return tube.

  31. Connect the electrical connector.

  32. Connect the wiring harness in three locations.

  33. Connect the wiring harness connectors.

  34. Connect the heater water hoses.

  35. Connect the climate control vacuum supply hoses.

  36. Position the cables and install the bracket.

  37. Connect the throttle and speed control cables, and install the return spring.

  38. Connect the upper radiator hose to the water outlet adapter.

  39. Connect the fuel tube spring lock couplings. Refer to FUEL SYSTEMS .
  40. Install the air cleaner and outlet pipe.
  41. Connect the battery ground cable .
  42. Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil.
  43. Install the degas bottle. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  44. Fill the power steering system. Refer to STEERING SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
  45. Start the engine and check for leaks. Stop the engine and recheck the fluid levels.
  46. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to RECOVERY/EVACUATION & RECHARGING .
  47. Install the hood.
