Grid Filament Repair
NOTE:
Any single or combination of breaks totaling more than 1" (25 mm) in length cannot be repaired. Rear window glass must be replaced. Breaks equal to or shorter than 1" (25 mm) in length can be repaired using Service Kit (50-25-0584-0029).
- Vehicle temperature should be 60°F (16°C) or more. Clean area to be repaired with denatured alcohol. Place grid line mask over break, aligning cut-out slots on either side of repair area. See Fig 1. Apply epoxy to repair area.
- Remove mask without disturbing epoxy. Using heat gun, heat repair area for 1-2 minutes at a distance of 1-2" (25-50 mm). Repair area should be heated to about 300°F (149°C).
- Rear window defogger may be energized immediately after repair. Optimum hardness and adhesion will occur after 24 hours. DO NOT disturb repair area until that time.
