Test B: Defogger Does Not Turn Off Automatically
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Test defogger relay. See DEFOGGER RELAY TEST under COMPONENT TESTS. If relay is good, go to next step. If relay is faulty, replace defogger relay and retest system.
- Disconnect Tan Central Junction Box (CJB) 16-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and CJB 16-pin harness connector terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Black/Red wire and retest system.
- Measure resistance between ground and CJB 16-pin harness connector terminal No. 12 (White/Red wire). If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace warning chime module. See WARNING CHIME MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove Integrated Control Panel (ICP) from center of dash enough to gain access to Green rear window defogger switch 3-pin harness connector. See INTEGRATED CONTROL PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect rear window defogger switch 3-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between rear window defogger switch terminals No. 1 and 3 (component side). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, repair open in White/Red wire between CJB and ICP. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, replace rear window defogger switch and retest system.
