Front Planetary and One-Way Clutch Assembly: Assembly

  1. Clean all components with a suitable solvent and use compressed air to dry all parts and clean the fluid passages. Perform the following before assembly:
    • Inspect the inner and outer races for damage or wear.
    • Check the front planet pinion gears for damage or excessively worn teeth.
    • Check for free rotation of the pinion gears.
    • Inspect the pinions for excessive movement on their shafts.
    • Inspect the pinion shafts for security.
    • Check the one-way clutch for broken springs and damaged rollers.
  2. Check the operation of the one-way clutch.
    • Place the (A) one-way clutch outer race on the (B) inner race and verify that when the inner race is held, the one-way clutch rotates smoothly and only in a clockwise direction.
