Preliminary Inspection

NOTE: If any concerns are noted with the speedometer, stoplights, or horn, address those concerns before continuing speed control system diagnosis.

Verify customer's complaint by operating speed control system. Before performing any testing, perform visual inspection. Check for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Check for faulty system related fuses in central junction box: ASC fuse (10-amp) and STOP fuse (15-amp). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Central junction box is located under left side of instrument panel. Check connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. Check for damaged wiring harness and switches. Check for damaged or binding servo/actuator cable. Check for incorrect servo/actuator cable adjustment. See SERVO/ACTUATOR CABLE  under ADJUSTMENTS. Inspect actuator and throttle linkage for smooth operation. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
