Catalytic Converter-SVT: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & HOISTING .
  2. Remove the catalytic converter lower heat shield.

  3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  4. Remove the HO2S sensor.

  5. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

  6. Remove the catalyst monitor sensor.

  7. CAUTION: Over bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure.

  8. Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.
  9. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe.
    • Discard the gaskets and nuts.

  10. Remove and discard the catalytic converter retaining nuts.

  11. NOTE: Support the catalytic converter.

  12. Remove the catalytic mounting bracket retaining bolts.
  13. Remove the catalytic converter.
  14. Remove the catalytic converter upper and oil pan heat shields.
