Tie Rod: Installation

    NOTE: Remove all traces of thread locking compound from the rack.
  1. Using a suitable wrench, install the tie-rod.
    • Apply Thread locking compound to the inner threads of the new tie-rod.

    2. NOTE: Install the boot using new clamps.
  2. Install the boot.
    1. Install the boot.
    2. Install the clamps.
    • Connect the breather pipe (if equipped).

    3. NOTE: Make sure the tie-rod end is secured by the same number of turns used to remove it.

  3. Install the tie-rod end and locknut.
  4. Install the steering gear. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING .
  5. Check the toe adjustment. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES .
