Chain Cover: Disassembly

NOTE: If a new chain cover is being installed, the main control wire harness will need to be transferred.

Press the tabs and remove the harness.
Remove the accumulator piston shafts.

CAUTION: Do not use any objects in the piston shaft bore for removal. Damage to the bore will result.

NOTE: Tag and mark the location of the accumulator pistons.

CAUTION: Do not damage the machined surface of the chain cover.

NOTE: The use of side cutters supported by a small piece of wood will aid in the removal of the bimetal retaining collars.

Remove the bimetal element and thermostat plate.
Remove the manual valve detent spring.
