Chain Cover: Disassembly

    NOTE: If a new chain cover is being installed, the main control wire harness will need to be transferred.

  1. Press the tabs and remove the harness.
  2. Remove the accumulator piston shafts.

  3. CAUTION: Do not use any objects in the piston shaft bore for removal. Damage to the bore will result.
    NOTE: Tag and mark the location of the accumulator pistons.

  4. Remove the accumulator pistons.
  5. CAUTION: Do not damage the machined surface of the chain cover.
    NOTE: The use of side cutters supported by a small piece of wood will aid in the removal of the bimetal retaining collars.

  6. Remove the bimetal element and thermostat plate.
  7. Remove the manual valve detent spring.
