Main Control - Pump: Removal

  1. Place the transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position.

  2. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the breather tubes.

  4. Remove the engine air cleaner.

  5. Remove the air filter assembly.

  6. Remove the battery tray.

  7. Disconnect the connectors.

  8. Disconnect the connector.

  9. Remove the power steering line bracket.

  10. Remove the electrical connector bracket.

  11. Disconnect the turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor connector.

  12. Install the 3 Bar Engine Support.

  13. Install the engine lifting bracket on the right (back) hand side of the engine.

  14. Install the engine lifting bracket on the left (front) hand side of the engine.

  15. Remove the bolts.

  16. Raise the vehicle. .
  17. Remove the LH wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES .
  18. Remove the LH front fender splash shield upper screws.

  19. Remove the LH front fender splash shield.
    • Remove one screw, one pushpin and the shield.

  20. Remove the LH transaxle support bracket and insulator. For additional information, refer to TRANSAXLE SUPPORT INSULATOR .
  21. Position a drain pan under the transaxle side pan.
  22. Remove the bolts and remove the transaxle side pan.

  23. CAUTION: Do not pull on the wires or the electrical connectors. Damage to the connectors will result.

  24. Lift the locking tab and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  25. Position the transaxle wiring harness out of the way.
  26. CAUTION: Do not remove the two bolts that hold the pump assembly and main control valve body together as the pump assembly may fall from the main control valve body and become damaged.
    CAUTION: Only 4 of the 6 bolts need to be removed.

  27. Remove the bolts. Note the size and location of the bolts.
  28. Disconnect the manual linkage.
  29. Remove the main pump assembly and the main control valve body by carefully sliding it off the pump shaft.
