Engine - 3.9L: Removal: Engine: Notes

Special Tool(s) 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM .
3. Remove the air cleaner inlet. .
CAUTION: The coolant drain procedure must be followed exactly or damage to the engine can occur.
4. Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
5. Discharge the A/C system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM .
6. Remove the power steering pump reservoir bolts. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
7. Remove the cowl vent screens. For additional information, refer to BODY SYSTEM - EXTERIOR .
8. Disconnect the fuel hose. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM .
9. Remove the fresh air filter panel. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM .
10. Remove the front wheels and tires. For additional information, refer to SUSPENSION SYSTEM .
11. Remove the LH and the RH inner splash shields.
12. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
13. Remove the three-way catalytic converter (TWC). For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
14. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.
