Cylinder Head RH: Removal

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. Remove the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  3. Disconnect the power steering pressure tube.

  4. Remove the bolts, then position the power steering pump aside.

  5. Remove the bolt, then position the heater tube aside.

  6. Remove the bolts and the power steering pump bracket.

  7. Disconnect the spark plug wires, then position the spark plug wires aside.

  8. Remove the RH exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD-RH .
  9. Remove the exhaust manifold studs.

  10. Remove the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to VALVE COVER-RH .
    CAUTION: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the components for location.
  11. Remove the bolts and the rocker arms.

  12. Remove the push rods.

  13. NOTE: Record the location of long and short bolts for installation.

  14. Remove and discard the bolts.
  15. Remove the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket.
