Removal and Installation

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.
  1. Remove the bolt, then position the oil dipstick tube and bracket aside.

  2. Position the spark plug wires aside.
    • Remove the retainers.

  3. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve.

    4. NOTE: Do not discard the gasket. It may be reused if it is not damaged.
  4. Remove the valve cover.
    • Remove the bolts.

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install a new valve cover gasket as necessary.
