See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Ensure driver's door is locked. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module 26-pin harness connector C405. Connect a jumper wire between ground and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405 terminal No. 1 (Violet wire). See Fig 2 . If driver's door does not lock, go to next step. If driver's door unlocks, remove jumper wire. Connect RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405. If a second remote transmitter programmed to vehicle exists, go to step 7 . If a second remote transmitter programmed to vehicle does not exist, program a second remote transmitter to vehicle, then go to step 7 . See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING.
- Remove door lock/unlock relay from relay box. Relay box is located behind left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Measure resistance of Violet wire between door lock/unlock relay 12-pin harness connector C293 terminal No. 2 and RAP module 26-pin harness connector C405 terminal No. 1. See Fig 2 and Fig 3 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door lock/unlock relay. Recheck system operation. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Violet wire. Recheck system operation.
- Check inoperative lock or unlock function using second remote transmitter. If inoperative function operates using second remote transmitter, replace first remote entry transmitter. Recheck system operation. If inoperative function does not operate using second remote transmitter, replace RAP module. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Press each button on remote transmitter while standing within 10 feet of vehicle. Confirm each function operates properly. If an appropriate response occurs with each button pressed, system is okay at this time. If an appropriate response does not occur with each button pressed, go to next step.
- Using NGS tester, enter RAP FUNCTION TESTS TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA. When TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA screen first appears, different 8-digit letter/number codes should appear next to TIC 1 and TIC 2. These are stored Transmitter Identification Codes (TIC) for No. 1 and No. 2 remote transmitters. If proper number of remote transmitters are stored in memory under TIC 1 and TIC 2, go to next step. If proper number of remote transmitters are not stored in memory under TIC 1 and TIC 2, reprogram all remote transmitters. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Retest system operation.
- Press and release unlock button on remote transmitter. If an 8-digit letter/number code does not appear under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and/or UNLOCK does not appear under LAST DATA RECEIVED, go to next step. If an 8-digit letter/number code appears under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and UNLOCK appears under LAST DATA RECEIVED, go to step 13 .
- Using second remote transmitter, repeat step 10 . If an 8-digit letter/number code appears under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and UNLOCK appears under LAST DATA RECEIVED, go to next step. If an 8-digit letter/number code does not appear under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and/or UNLOCK does not appear under LAST DATA RECEIVED, go to step 14 .
- Switch batteries from known-good transmitter to malfunctioning transmitter. Press and release unlock button on malfunctioning transmitter several times. If an 8-digit letter/number code appears under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and UNLOCK appears under LAST DATA RECEIVED, replace original batteries from malfunctioning transmitter. Retest system operation. If an 8-digit letter/number code does not appear under LAST TIC RECEIVED, and/or UNLOCK does not appear under LAST DATA RECEIVED, replace inoperative remote transmitter. Retest system operation.
- If TIC under LAST TIC RECEIVED, matches TIC1 or TIC2, go to next step. If TIC under LAST TIC RECEIVED, does not match TIC1 or TIC2, program all remote transmitters to be used with this vehicle. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Repeat step 8 .
- If all buttons pressed for each transmitter do not create expected LAST DATA RECEIVED response and one transmitter is not operating properly, program all (at least 2) remote transmitters to be used with vehicle. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Repeat step 8 . If both remote transmitters are not operating properly, program all (at least 2) remote transmitters to be used with vehicle. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING. Repeat step 8 . If problem still exists, go to next step. If all buttons pressed for each transmitter create expected LAST DATA RECEIVED response, replace Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module. See REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
