Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) Module: Removal

- Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module is mounted on center tunnel below instrument panel. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
- Move both front seats forward. Remove 2 retaining screws (one on each side) from parking brake console. Engage parking brake. Pull upward and remove parking brake console. Remove 2 retaining screws from rear of shift console. Remove 4 push pins (2 on each side) from front of shift console.
- If equipped with automatic transaxle, place gearshift lever in "L" position. If equipped with standard transaxle, remove gearshift lever knob. On all models, remove beverage holder from shift console. Lift upward on rear of console and remove shift console.
- Disconnect ECS module electrical connector locking clip. See Figure . Disconnect ECS module harness connector. Remove ECS module mounting bolts and remove module.
