CAUTION: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the components removed for location.
  1. Remove the spark plugs.

  2. Using the special tool, compress the valve springs.

  3. Remove the following:
    1. Valve spring retainer key
    2. Valve spring retainers
    3. Valve springs
    4. Valve stem seal/seats
    5. Intake valves
    6. Exhaust valves

  4. Inspect the components, if necessary. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION
    5. CAUTION: Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil before installing.
  5. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
