Cover Seal: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Using the Halfshaft Oil Seal Installer, Rear Axle Oil Seal Installer and Handle, install the cover seal.
    • The seal is correctly installed if it is flush with the PTU case cover.

  2. Install the deflector.
    • Press the deflector firmly to snap into position.
  3. Install the front RH intermediate shaft. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE HALFSHAFTS article.
  4. Install the PTU heat shield and the 3 bolts.
    • Tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

    5. Vehicles equipped with 2.5L 

  5. Install the catalytic converter bracket and the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.
    • Tighten the nuts to 36 Nm (27 lb-ft).
    • Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

    Vehicles equipped with 3.0L 

  6. Install the catalytic converter - 3.0L RH manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.
