Removal and Installation

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .
2. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVELINE SYSTEM .
3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in Fig 1.

NOTE: Use a suitable transmission jack to support the transmission.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
5. Check the transmission fluid level. For additional information, refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK .

Item 6: Output Shaft Flange Removal Note 

1. Using the special tool, remove the output shaft flange.

Item 8: Extension Housing Removal Note 

CAUTION: The parking pawl, parking pawl return spring and parking pawl shaft could fall out during removal of the extension housing.

1. Remove the extension housing.

Item 7: Extension Housing Screws Installation Note 

CAUTION: Make sure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup.

1. Install the extension housing.

Item 6: Output Shaft Flange Installation Note 

1. Using the special tool, install the output shaft flange.
