Removal and Installation

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not use any memory saver devices.
NOTE: If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered.
NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a SRS fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

    All front retractors 

  1. Position the seat to its most forward position.
  2. Passenger front retractor 

  3. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  4. Disconnect the belt tension sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the lower safety belt anchor bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  6. All front retractors 

  7. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  8. Remove the safety belt guide cover by squeezing the height adjuster buttons and pulling the cover out at the bottom.

  9. Remove the safety belt guide D-ring bolt and D-ring.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  10. Remove the bolt and safety belt and retractor assembly.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  12. Passenger front retractor 

  13. Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  14. All front retractors 

  15. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to SAFETY BELT SYSTEM .
