Steering Gear: Installation
- Install the steering gear from the left side of the vehicle.
- Install the stabilizer bar and the 2 stabilizer bar link nuts.
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
- Install the 2 steering gear-to-crossmember nuts.
- Tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).
- Using the special tool, install 2 new Teflon® seals on the power steering pressure line and the return line fittings.
- Install the power steering return line fitting.
- Tighten to 36 Nm (27 lb-ft).
- Install the power steering pressure line fitting.
- Tighten to 36 Nm (27 lb-ft).
- Install the intermediate shaft and the shaft-to-steering gear bolt.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Install the steering gear boot to the steering gear.
- Install the tie-rod ends and 2 new tie-rod end nuts.
- Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
- Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
NOTE:
New tie-rod end nuts must be installed.
