ITEM DESCRIPTION CHART

Item Service Part Number Description
1 7A010 Line pressure tap
2 7A010 Transmission fluid drain plug
NOTE: Carry out the Line Pressure Test prior to carrying out the Stall Speed Test. If the line pressure is low at stall, do not carry out the Stall Speed Test or further transaxle damage will occur. Do not maintain Wide Open Throttle (WOT) in any transaxle range for more than 5 seconds.
NOTE: Do not mistake the transmission fluid drain plug for the line pressure tap plug or the transmission fluid will have to be refilled.
  1. The line pressure test verifies that the line pressure is within specification.
    1. Connect the Transmission Fluid Pressure Gauge to the line pressure tap.
    2. Start the engine and check the line pressure. Determine if the line pressure is within specification by using the following chart.
      NOTE: All pressures are approximate.
    PRESSURE CHART

Gear Actual Line Pressure KPa (psi) Commanded LPC Pressure KPa (psi)
Idle WOT Stall Idle WOT Stall
    P 372.3 kPa (54 psi) 413.7 kPa (60 psi) - -
    R 655 kPa (95 psi) 724 kPa (105 psi) 1,723.8 kPa (250 psi) 2,068.5 kPa (300 psi)
    N 379.2 kPa (55 psi) 448.2 kPa (65 psi) - -
    D 551.6 kPa (80 psi) 620.6 kPa (90 psi) 1,654.8 kPa (240 psi) 1,723.8 kPa (250 psi)
    L 551.6 kPa (80 psi) 620.6 kPa (90 psi) 1,654.8 kPa (240 psi) 1,723.8 kPa (250 psi)
  2. If the line pressure is not within specification, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE F  to diagnose the Line Pressure Control (LPC) operation. If Line Pressure Control (LPC) operation is Ok, see the LINE PRESSURE DIAGNOSIS CHART  for line pressure concern causes.
    LINE PRESSURE DIAGNOSIS CHART

    Test Results Possible Source
HIGH at IDLE - ALL RANGES Wiring Harnesses, Line Pressure Control (LPC), Main Regulator Valve
LOW at IDLE - ALL RANGES Low Fluid Level, Fluid Inlet Filter/Seal, Main Control Valve Body, Cross Leaks, Gaskets, Pump, Separator Plate
LOW in Park Only Main Control Valve Body
LOW in Reverse Only Separator Plate, Reverse Clutch, Main Control Valve Body, Forward Clutch
LOW in Neutral ONLY Main Control Valve Body
LOW in Overdrive (O/D) ONLY Forward Clutch, Main Control Valve Body
LOW in Drive ONLY Forward Clutch
LOW in Manual 1st ONLY Forward Clutch, Main Control Valve Body
  3. When pressure tests are complete, install the line pressure tap plug.

    Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
