Torque Converter Housing: Assembly

  1. Select a new differential or transfer shaft shim. REFER to DIFFERENTIAL SHIM SELECTION .
  2. Assemble 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583 and install a new transfer shaft fluid dam on 307-583.

  3. NOTE: Support the torque converter housing using blocks of wood, or damage to the torque converter housing may occur.

  4. Using 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-583, install the fluid dam in the torque converter housing.
  5. Inspect the transfer shaft fluid dam to be sure it is seated evenly into the torque converter housing.

  6. Install the transfer shaft preload shim in the torque converter housing.

  7. Using 307-576, press the transfer shaft bearing cup in the torque converter housing.

  8. Install the differential bearing preload shim in the torque converter housing.

  9. Install a new differential bearing race on 307-576.

  10. Using 307-576, 307-541 and 204-029 (T77F-1176-A), press the differential bearing cup in the torque converter housing.
