Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view the SCCM PIDs .
- Press each cruise control switch while monitoring the cruise control switch PID (SCCS).
Cruise Control Switch SCCS PID Value - None pressed RES/CNCL RESUME/CANCEL ON/OFF On/Off SET (pressed up) SET/+ SET (pressed down) SET/- GAP (pressed up) GAP- GAP (pressed down) GAP+
Does the PID value agree with the switch position?
- Yes: GO to 5.
- No: If only one switch value does not display the correct PID value, INSTALL a new LH steering wheel switch. REFER to STEERING WHEEL SWITCH
.
Otherwise, GO to 2 .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the driver air bag module. REFER to DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
- Disconnect LH Steering Wheel Controls.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
LH Steering Wheel Switch LH Steering Wheel Switch C2998 C2998 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 - 1 - 6 - 1 - 8 - 1 -
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new LH steering wheel switch. REFER to STEERING WHEEL SWITCH .
- No: GO to 3 .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CLOCKSPRING
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Clockspring C218B.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new steering wheel. REFER to STEERING WHEEL .
- No: GO to 4 .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE SCCM
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the clockspring. REFER to CLOCKSPRING .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
SCCM SCCM C2414D (Component Side) C2414D (Component Side) Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 5 - 9 - 7 - 9 - 8 - 9 -
Is the voltage approximately 5 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new clockspring. REFER to CLOCKSPRING .
- No: GO to 5 .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT SCCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SCCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the SCCM connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Connect all disconnected connectors.
- Install the driver air bag module. REFER to DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE .
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new SCCM. REFER to STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (SCCM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
