Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.

    Does the C-CM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE U : The Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. CHECK THE C-CM  FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs 
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the C-CM  self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine Q: U3003:16 , or REFER to Diagnostic Routine R: U3003:17 .
    2. No: GO to .
  4. RECHECK THE PCM DTCs 
    1. Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Repeat the PCM self-test.

    Is DTC U0104 still present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. CHECK FOR DTC U0104 OR DTC U0104:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Clear all DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

    Is DTC U0104 or U0104:00 set in other modules? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new C-CM  . REFER to Cruise Control Module (C-CM) .
    2. No: INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI , or POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
