Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform a network test.

    Does the BCM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : The Body Control Module (BCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE C-CM  AND BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the C-CM  and BCM self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

    1. Yes: For the C-CM  , REFER to Diagnostic Routine Q: U3003:16 , or REFER to Diagnostic Routine R: U3003:17 .

      For the BCM, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE H : DTC U3003:16, or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : DTC U3003:17.

    2. No: GO to .
  4. RECHECK THE C-CM DTCs 
    1. NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.

      Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs  .

    2. Repeat the C-CM  self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 still present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  5. CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
    1. Clear all DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Using a scan tool, perform self-test.
    6. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

    Is DTC U0140:00 set in other modules? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new BCM:

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .

    2. No: INSTALL a new C-CM  . REFER to Cruise Control Module (C-CM) .
