Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, BATTERY MOUNTING & BATTERY CABLES .
  2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe and ACL assembly. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM & INTAKE AIR FILTERING SYSTEM .
  3. Remove the ACL inlet pipe from the radiator support. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM & INTAKE AIR FILTERING SYSTEM .
  4. Remove the Front End Accessory Drive (FEAD) belt tensioner. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT .
  5. Position the generator B+ protective boot aside, remove the B+ nut and position the B+ terminal aside.
    • To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
  6. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
  7. Remove the upper generator stud nut.
    • To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  8. Remove the upper generator stud.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  9. Remove the lower generator bolt and the generator.
    • To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
