Liftgate Alignment

All alignments
- Remove the liftgate scuff plate to access to liftgate striker.
- Remove the liftgate striker.
- Loosen, but do not remove, the hinge-to-liftgate bolts enough to permit movement of the liftgate.
- Adjust the liftgate so that the gaps are equal side-to-side. For additional information, refer to BODY REPAIRS .
- Tighten the liftgate hinge-to-liftgate bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Open the liftgate.
- Position the top and sides of the liftgate opening weatherstrip aside.
- Remove the D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Lower the rear of the headliner to gain access to liftgate hinge-to-body fasteners.
- Loosen, but do not remove, the liftgate hinge-to-body fasteners enough to permit movement of the liftgate.
- Adjust the liftgate so that the gaps are equal side-to-side. For additional information, refer to BODY REPAIRS .
- Tighten the liftgate hinge-to-body fasteners.
- Tighten the liftgate hinge-to-body nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
- A hammer and wood block may be necessary for large adjustments.
- Install the liftgate striker, adjust as necessary.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Install the liftgate scuff plate.
- For vehicles equipped with power liftgate, initialize the power liftgate. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization .
- Install the rear of the headliner.
- Install the D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
- Install liftgate opening weatherstrip.
