Door Alignment - Front

All Alignments 

NOTE: LH door shown, RH door similar.
NOTE: Make sure the front door is within specifications before making adjustments to the front door. For additional information, refer to BODY REPAIRS .
  1. Remove the door latch striker plate.

    Front door in and out, up and down alignment 

  2. Mark the position of the front door hinges to use as a reference point.
  3. Loosen, but do not remove, the front door hinge-to-front door fasteners enough to allow door alignment.

    Front door fore, aft and tilt alignment 

  4. Remove the front fender. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  5. Loosen, but do not remove, the upper front door hinge-to-body fasteners enough to allow door alignment.
  6. Loosen the front door upper hinge-to-body locator pin nut just enough to permit movement.

  7. Loosen, but do not remove, the lower front door hinge-to-body fasteners enough to allow door alignment.

    All alignments 

  8. Adjust the door. For additional information, refer to BODY REPAIRS .
  9. Tighten the door fasteners.
    • Tighten the front door hinge-to-body locator pin nut to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
    • Tighten the front door hinge-to-front door fasteners to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
    • Tighten the front door hinge-to-body fasteners to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
  10. Install and adjust the door striker as necessary. For additional information, refer to BODY REPAIRS .
    • Tighten the door latch striker plate bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

    Front door fore, aft and tilt alignment 

  11. Install the front fender. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
