Liftgate Alignment

Inspection 

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. 1.

    Check liftgate-to-body dimensions. REFER to: Body and Frame .

Adjustment 

All alignments 

  1. 1.

    Position aside the load compartment luggage cover.

    1. 1.

      Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    1. 2.

      Remove the retainers.

    1. 3.

      Remove the liftgate opening trim panel.

    Remove the liftgate striker.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Liftgate left and right, up and down alignment 

  1. 4.

    Loosen the bolts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

    Carefully close the liftgate.

    Adjust the liftgate to specification. REFER to: Body and Frame .

    Carefully open the liftgate.

    Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Liftgate in and out alignment 

  1. 9.

    Lower the headliner. REFER to: Headliner - Lowering .

  1. 10.

    Loosen the nuts.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

  1. 11.

    NOTE: Nominal overslam bumpers have a small lip and should be adjusted flush with the sheet metal surface.

    Adjust the nominal overslam bumpers.

    Carefully close the liftgate.

    Torque: 46 lb.ft (62.5 Nm)

    Inspect the body-to-liftgate door dimensions. REFER to: Body and Frame .

    Install the removed components.

    If equipped, carry out the power liftgate initialization. REFER to: Power Liftgate Initialization .
