Instrument Panel: Installation

All vehicles 

  1. NOTE: To avoid damage to the instrument panel, an assistant is required when carrying out this step.
    NOTE: Make sure all electrical connectors and wiring are correctly routed when installing the instrument panel.

    Install the instrument panel.

  2. Install the RH and LH instrument panel bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  3. NOTE: Use LH instrument panel side bolt guide to prevent the LH instrument panel side bolt from falling into the lower cowl panel.

    Install the LH instrument panel side bolt.

    • Install the LH instrument panel side bolt guide (part number 54021A08) into the LH instrument panel side bolt opening.
    • Install the LH instrument panel side bolt into the LH instrument panel.
      • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  4. Remove the tape from the LH front door.

  5. Install the LH instrument panel side bolt cover.

  6. Install the LH door weather shield.
    • Install the 4 LH door weather shield pin-type retainers.

  7. Install the 3 instrument panel upper cowl bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  8. Install the instrument panel upper cowl bolt covers.
  9. Install the instrument panel lower center support bracket and bolts.
    • Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

  10. Lower the glove compartment.
    1. Open the glove compartment.
    2. Press the glove compartment stop inward and lower the glove compartment.

  11. Connect the 2 electrical connectors attached to the plenum chamber.

  12. Close the glove compartment.
    1. Press the glove compartment stop inward and raise the glove compartment.
    2. Close the glove compartment.

  13. Connect the 2 connectors to the SJB.

  14. Connect the antenna cable and the bulkhead electrical connector.

  15. Install the RH lower insulator panel.
    • Install the 2 pushpin retainers.

  16. Connect the 3 wiring harness electrical connectors located under the steering column opening panel.

  17. If equipped, connect the satellite radio antenna connector located under the steering column opening panel.

    Vehicles with an automatic transmission 

  18. Install the selector lever cable to the steering column.
    • Connect the selector lever cable to the steering column selector lever.
    • Install the selector lever cable to the steering column bracket.

    All vehicles 

  19. Install the steering column opening trim panel.
    • Make sure to align the trim panel retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
  20. Install the parking brake release handle and bolt.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  21. Install the RH and LH instrument panel side trim panels.
    • Make sure to align the trim panel retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
  22. Install the RH and LH A-pillar trim panels and the RH and LH lower cowl trim panels. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  23. Install the RH and LH front door weatherstrips.

    Vehicles with a manual transmission 

  24. Install the shift lever and boot. For additional information, refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TREMEC 5-SPEED.

    All vehicles 

  25. Install the upper steering column shaft to the steering column.
  26. Install the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to STEERING COLUMN .
  27. Install a new upper steering column shaft-to-steering column bolt.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

  28. If equipped, install the floor console. For additional information, refer to CONSOLE - FLOOR .
