Instrument Panel: Removal
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- 1.
Recover the refrigerant. Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
- 2.NOTE: Make sure all openings are sealed.
Remove the evaporator pipe nut and flange, position the pipe aside.
Torque
: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
- 3.NOTE: 3.5L Ecoboost powertrain shown in illustration, other powertrains similar.NOTE: Make sure all openings are sealed.
Clamp and disconnect the heater hoses.
- 4.
Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
- 5.
Remove both front doors. Refer to: Front Door .
- 6.
Remove the RH and LH A-Pillar trim panels. Refer to: A-Pillar Trim Panel .

Remove the 5 screws.Torque
: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
- 2.
Release the 6 clips and position the LH instrument panel finish panel.
- 3.
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel.

Remove the 3 screws, release the retainers and remove the lower LH instrument panel insulator panel.
- 14.

Remove the 5 screws.Torque
: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
- 2.
Release the 5 clips and remove the RH instrument panel finish panel.
- 1.
- 15.
Release the 3 clips, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) control bezel.
- 16.NOTE: If equipped.
Release the 2 clips, disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and remove the media bezel.
- 18.
Release the 9 clips, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the instrument panel console cup holder.
- 19.NOTE: If equipped.
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors release the 4 harness retainers and position the harness aside.
- 20.
Position the transmission selector lever bezel upward, remove the 2 screws, release the 14 clips and remove the instrument panel console.Torque
: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)
- 21.
Remove the 2 screws, release the 2 retaining tabs and remove the center lower instrument panel finish panel.
- 22.NOTE: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring may result. If there is evidence that the shaft has rotated, remove and recenter the clockspring.
Remove and discard the steering shaft pinch bolt and position aside the lower steering column shaft.
Torque
: 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

Remove the 4 bolts and the LH instrument panel lower support bracket.Torque
: 119 lb.in (13.5 Nm)
- 31.
Remove the 4 bolts and the RH instrument panel lower support bracket.Torque
: 119 lb.in (13.5 Nm)
- 34.NOTE: Make sure not to damage the instrument panel when removing the instrument panel from the vehicle.NOTE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the instrument panel or damage to the components may occur.
Remove the 2 LH and the 2 RH instrument panel bolts, rotate the instrument panel face down and remove through the RH door.
Torque
: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
