Body Control Module (BCM): Removal

  1. 1.

    NOTE: This step is only necessary if the BCM is being replaced.
    NOTE: If installing a new BCM, verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure (some vehicles may require 4 keys depending on configuration).
    NOTE: Not all vehicles have PATS. IKT type of keys for non- PATS and PATS equipped vehicles look identical.
    NOTE: If the BCM did not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, As-Built Data may need to be entered as part of the repair.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the BCM following the on-screen instructions.

    Remove the instrument panel console. Refer to: Instrument Panel Console .

    Release the 2 clips and remove the LH side access panel.

    Release the 3 clips and remove the LH cup holder.

      Remove the 5 screws.

      Torque: 18 lb.in (2 Nm)

    1. 2.

      Release the 6 clips and position the LH instrument panel finish panel.

    1. 3.

      Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors and remove the LH instrument panel finish panel.

  1. 6.

    Remove the 6 screws and the lower RH instrument panel close out panel.

      Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.

    1. 2.

      Release the retaining clip.

    1. 3.

      Lift the BCM out of the mounting bracket.
