Hood Alignment

Inspection 

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. 1.

    Inspect the hood-to-body dimensions. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

All alignments 

  1. 2.

    Remove the hood latch. REFER to: Hood Latch .

  1. 3.

    Remove the nuts and the striker assembly.

    Torque

    : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

Hood fore and aft, left and right alignments 

  1. 4.

    Loosen the nuts to permit movement of the hood.

    Loosen: 2 turn(s)

    Carefully close the hood.

    Adjust the hood to specification. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

  1. 7.

    Carefully open the hood.

  1. 8.

    Tighten the nuts.

    Torque

    : 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

Hood front up and down alignments 

  1. 9.

    Adjust the bump stop rubbers.

    Adjust the hood to specification. REFER to: Body and Frame - Vehicle Specific Information and Tolerance Checks.

All alignments 

  1. 11.

    Install the striker assembly.

    Torque

    : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    Loosen the nuts to permit movement of the striker assembly.
